Where’s the train gone?

Today we bid farewell to our beloved book train engine as it finally sets off on it’s spa mini-break at the Frome Shed!

The engine was given a lovely send-off by some of the younger visitors to the library, who had one last play before supervising it’s removal by the fantastic town rangers.

The train is now in the capable hands of the Monday Shedders who shall be using their skills and expertise to lovingly restore and renovate our 35 year old train. They’ve wasted no time in getting started, as you can see from the photo above, they’ve already identified that the wheels are a bit worn, and look at that dirty bottom!

We’ll be taking lots of photos of the works over the coming weeks, so keep checking back to see how the glow up is progressing. In the meantime, the second tender will remain in-situ at the library, so the wonderful picture book section is still available to visitors.

Our sincerest thanks to the town rangers for volunteering their services, and to the Monday Shedders for taking on this epic job, and of course to everyone who donated - you made this happen, so thank you!
