About

Friends of Frome Library (or FOFL as it’s affectionately known), was officially formed in January 2025. Over copious cups of tea, and the occasional visit to the pub, a bunch of dedicated library volunteers and users decided to join forces, creating a group passionate about supporting and safeguarding our much-loved library for years to come.

Aims

Our current main aims are to help fundraise for equipment and services (as identified by the fab librarians), and to promote and advocate for our library. Along the way we hope to have as much fun as possible, as well as shining a light on all the brilliant free services the library offers.

Whether you fancy a natter and a knit, a baby boogie, a quiet place to study, or even a saucy Mills & Boon, Frome Library has you covered…and you could even check your blood-pressure after the saucy read, and all for free!

We believe public libraries are a great equaliser and are one of the few truly free public spaces left in our society, offering escapism, shelter, warmth, community and knowledge for all. They matter more than ever, and yet are increasingly under threat.
